Scandinavian Adventure Upcoming
Jun. 28th, 2025 10:47 amI haven't posted here for over a month, sorry. I hadn't really had any thoughts or events that seemed worthy of a DreamWidth post.
In five days, I fly to Copenhagen, on my way to Stockholm. In Stockholm, I will meet a few of my relatives (My uncle Calvert married a Swedish woman and moved there). I'll be meeting with widows and cousins. I will be staying in an apartment owned by a Commedia dell'Arte friend.
After a couple days, I will fly from there to Helsinki, and take the local public transportation to a camp about 50 miles West of the city, where the local SCA group is having a popular big event called Cudgel War (Nuijasota in Finnish). At this event, I'll be teaching about Commedia dell'Arte, and directing a group of eleven of the participants in performing a play that, as far as I know, has not been performed publicly since 1630. In addition to the ten hours of rehearsing, I'll also be teaching five hours of general classes on the topic.
Performance of "The Two Schoolboys" AKA "Li Dui Scolari" AKA "Kaksi koulupoikaa" will be Friday, July 11th, at 5PM local time (10AM EDT). I hope to record it, and eventually post it.
I will spend a few more days in Stockholm, and then return to Boston in time for a rehearsal of the i Sebastiani Sunday show at Pennsic.
Starting two days from now, I will start seriously trying to decide what I will bring in my under-50-pounds of luggage.
